The Department of Labour and Employment, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, is committed to protecting the rights and interests of workers, promoting fair and safe working conditions, maintaining harmonious industrial relations and facilitating employment opportunities for the people of the State.

The Department was established in April 1982 following its bifurcation from the Law and Judicial Department. Headed by the Labour Commissioner, the Department administers and enforces applicable labour laws, implements labour welfare programmes and provides employment-related services through Employment Exchanges across Arunachal Pradesh.

The Department works closely with workers, employers, establishments, contractors, industries and other government agencies to promote statutory compliance and a fair working environment. Its responsibilities include the registration and regulation of establishments, implementation of minimum-wage and social-security provisions, settlement of industrial disputes, inspection of workplaces and protection of workers engaged in organised and unorganised sectors.

Through its employment services, the Department assists jobseekers by facilitating Employment Exchange registration, maintaining employment-related records, disseminating information about employment opportunities and supporting career guidance and other employment-promotion initiatives.
